Good cars over 100,000 miles?
I'm looking to purchase a used car. I have a budget of $7600 and everything I'm finding is over 100,000 miles or kept in poor condition. I talked to one of my friends who is a mechanic and he told me that mileage is everything but I can't find anything low mileage in my price range. He told me to look at Toyota and Honda but I really don't like either. My question is what other cars should I be looking into purchasing?
Mitsubishi cars. I bought an 03 Lancer that had 120K miles and it serves me well. Mitsubishi is the best. I recommend going on cargurus.com and do some shopping on there. Search by make, model, mileage, price. Every possible way. It was also has every single make there's and models that no longer exist.
Toyota & Honda are great cars but its tough finding them with reasonable miles and a reasonable price.
But there are plenty of cars with under 100k for $7600 & under.
I dare say you could find something under 70k but it wouldn't be Toyota or Honda.
In 40 years of buying almost exclusively used cars I have found 100K miles is the sweet spot for buying used cars. At 50K miles it is hard to tell how a car has been treated; at 100K miles it is hard to hide. I can more reliably get another 100K miles out of a car that has 100K miles on it already than one that has only 50K miles. Just be sure to have it looked over carefully.
4 cylinder engines hold up just fine. My daughter's 4 cylinder Accord was traded in at 258K miles, my 4 cylinder Prius is going strong at 178K miles, my son's 4 cylinder Acura is doing fine around 190K miles.
- Should I buy a 2013 car with 100,000 mileage? May I ask for your advice? I found a used car registerd in 2013 at a very cheap price. The brand is excellent - we're talking about Honda, Nissan, Mercedes here. However, its mileage is 100,000. If you were in my situation, would you think it is worthwhile to buy? How long can that kind of car last?
- Would you purchase a 2004 Honda pilot for $6,000.000 that has 216,000 miles on it? I'm just browsing online looking at cars for sale and a lot of them have 200k or more miles on them and they want $4,000 or more. Why do people sale their cars for such a high price with a lot of miles on them? Its not just Hondas its all types of cars private and dealers as well

- Is buying a used Toyota, Honda or Mazda car over 100,500 mileage worth it? Or is it too risky? I don't want to buy a car that will die as soon as I get it. I want it too last a while.
