How to check if clutch is slipping on 2002 Honda CB500?
How do I check if clutch is slipping on 2002 Honda CB500?
If your RPM go up but your MPH does not, your clutch is slipping.
You can also try power braking or putting your front wheel against a wall.
Definite signs of a slipping clutch - only other possibility is human error or the rev counter not reading correctly (unlikely) Test for clutch slip - Find a reasonably steep slope that you can go up without vehicles following you. Hold a steady speed of around 20 - 25mph in a high a gear as you can but still maintaining speed. Pull the clutch in quickly till it just disengages and let it go quickly - basically you are just flicking the clutch and do not drop the engine speed off while doing this. Be prepared as if - all is well with the clutch it will lurch forward a little and the revs will drop immediately back to where they should be. All NOT well with the clutch then the revs will not return immediately to normal but will run higher than normal at least for a short while

- 1982 cm250 slipping gears, and not getting the right speed out of each gear? I have a 1982 honda cm250 bike. I recently had the motor rebuilt with new shift forks, etc. I got the bike back and it's doing this issue ( the same issue as when I took it into the shop). I was told that these are common issues with that year motor. I'm having a hard time believing this, as people say it is a great beginner bike.
