Mitsu has gone bankrupt TWICE in the last 10 years, and was just GIVEN by the Japanese government to a French company… I wouldn't touch one…
I bought a 1997 Toyota Camry in 2007 and it had 87k miles on it and I still have it. Now it's at 192k. The one I bought was a one owner but the price was reduced because bumpers had hit bollards.
If you're driving a lot then you will be hard pressed to keep a car for 10 years.
Mitsubishi is not known to be a brand that lasts for years. Those brands are Honda, Toyota, or Nissan. Also, with a Hybrid car, people are likely to discard then because of how much it costs to replace the battery. If you were looking at a 2008 Corolla or Civic then I'd say go for it. I can't say the same thing for a Prius.
Any car can last 10 years or more IF you maintain it properly, drive it intelligently and can recognize incipient problems before they can become major ones. No car will last 10 years if you don't possess this basic knowledge and skill.
Get the old Honda, Very few 'first cars' last 10 years as inexperienced drivers tend to wrap them around trees.
New Mitsubishi Lancer. Good warranty and fun to drive.
- How many years will a new car last before it breaks down often? If you buy a brand new car and keep up with maintenance, how many years can you expect to get before it begins breaking down often, requiring frequent and/or expensive repairs? 5, 10, 15, 20? I know this can vary depending on the model, but let's assume a Honda or equivalent Japanese car.
- Roughly how much could I get from selling my hybrid car with a dead hybrid battery? I have a 2007 Honda Civic Hybrid with about 175k miles. I'm the second owner and there's nothing else wrong with it besides the dead hybrid battery. The battery is very expensive to replace and it's honestly just more of a financially smart decision to sell it rather than spending about 2,000 on a new battery. I just want to know what is a decent price to let it go for considering the hybrid battery is dead ultimately making it useless until replaced.
- Is it a good deal to buy brand new honda civic 2015 for $18000 OR brand new honda civic 2016 for $22,500? I chose 2015 honda civic for $18000 because I wanted to keep my monthly payments low. Did I save money here?
- Taking my car into the shop for the first time (my first car and first time at a shop)? Recently acquired a 1999 Honda Accord for $1500 with only 160k. Runs great but my dad checked car and said oil is low and then proceeded to check the rest of the car and said all my fluids need to be replaced. What does that mean and what is the price for fixing this? I want to go to the shop with some sort of understanding of the prices so I know if I'm being ripped off or not.
