I'm thinking about buying Jeep Wrangler as a daily driver. Good choice or not?

Are they reliable?

Can they last as long as a Toyota or Honda?

Is it true about the death wobble?

Death wobble is true. If you don't put oversize tires on it and over stress the steering, you will not have death wobble. My son is considering buying one tomorrow. It has big tires, a 5" lift, 4.56 gears, 5" lift and a bad tranny. Obviously he won't be driving it on the road. He has a '86 Cherokee. It is pretty reliable. He and a bunch of his friends took their Jeeps for a ride a couple of weeks ago. He was worried about it since that was the first time it left the yard since he purchased it. His and one other survived the weekend. One guy did break 5 axles, but he got that fixed easily after he got it home and put it on the lift.

I drove my Wrangler 17k miles last year as a daily driver.
I don't have to worry about potholes or bumps on the road.
The ride is a bit noisier than a car, but that's the trade-off for an off-road capable vehicle ans convertible truck.
PS- Maintain the truck and you won't get a death wobble. When parts wear out, replace them.

  • Jeep wrangler vs jetta tdi? I've had my loyal honda for 7 years. Sense it is on its way out I have been looking into different cars. I would like something I can attach a small trailer to and haul my two quads. I've been looking at the 2011 jetta tdi and the 2005 wrangler (4.0). I drive a lot so I prefer something that is good on fuel. I also want to haul my quads. Would the jetta be good?
  • Is the Type R a good daily driver? My Honda dealer was offering a new 2019 Type R for about $36 000. He says if you drive it economically it can save gas, but there's also a sport/type r mode if you want to have fun. He says it has a 4 cylinder turbo engine. then my Nissan dealer was saying how I should get a Maxima instead. It is roomy, luxurious with a CVT, V6 producing 300 horsepower. It does use a little more gas than the Type R.
