1980 honda twinstar cm200 dies when given throttle?

So i changed the carburetor on my motorcycle because it was leaking into the air filter and now the motorcycle starts up and everything but when i give it throttle it just dies i checked everything and i just don't know what to do i mixed and matched parts from the old carb and nothing it just doesn't work anymore gas is present so is spark i just don't know what to do i'm so upset i've worked so hard on this bike and wasted so much money just for this damn problem to keep me from riding it, any help is appreciate please be detailed

Try this----- remove the rubber boot between the carb and air filter box. Start the engine and let it idle. Now spray some WD40 into the carb intake. (back of carb opening) The engine should rev up. This indicates that the replacement carb is plugged up. You may need to take the carb to an expert motorcycle carb mechanic such as your Honda dealer. You need an expert who has passageway cleaning wires to ream the dried gas out.

  • Honda twinstar won't start? So my bike was stolen. Two kids walked about a block away with it and a lady confronted them about it being stolen. Lucky for me. So they dropped it on its side and ran. After I got it back I can't see any visable damage. What could be the reason it will not start? This bike is old but has never had problems starting.
  • Honda 1980 xl250s problem? My bike will not accelerate in 4th or 5th gear. It runs great in 1st 2nd and 3rd it tops out at about 35-40 in 3rd but once I shift to 4th it just stays at around 35mph. When I give it more throttle in 4th gear it just makes a put put sound and looses speed. Can someone please tell me how to fix this.

  • 1980 Honda cb750c headlight replacement? I've been looking for a replacement headlight, but I can't seem to trust the sites that sell them because I've had problems with the last headlight I bought online. So is there any trusted sites that I can get a aftermarket headlight for my 1980 Honda cb750c or can you send me a link to a headlight that is compatible to my bike.
