The bikes are brothers, or at least cousins. They both have the same engine. (It's a very good engine too! Water cooled, 4 cylinder, 16 valves, IIRC).
The CBR is a dedicated single-purpose sport-bike. Meaning that its design is optimized for speed and handling at the cost of everything else. Meaning it's uncomfortable, it's not easy to ride, not good for beginners, you can't really carry a passenger (not comfortably anyway), etc. But does it handle! Wow. The engine is 'high performance' meaning it has a very narrow powerband, so you have to keep it revved up towards the redline to get the power out of it. The riding position is uncomfortable, all crouched over, putting a lot of stress on your wrists and lower back. Bikes like this don't live a long time because, let's face it, they're made to be thrashed and crashed.
The Hornet is the 'civilian', general-purpose version. Slightly less power and handling, but easier to ride, more comfortable seat and riding position. Wider powerband. It's a good all-around bike.
I would choose the Hornet.

- I have a 98 honda cbr 600 f3? The bike will start and idle but when I start riding it will sputter, lose power and die. Also coolant will spray out of the overfill line on the top of the coolant and the bike will over heat. Does anyone know what is wrong with it?
- I don't know what's wrong with my Honda cbr f4i 02 I have a f4i 02. Something is draining my battery, I've been through 4 batteries in 2 weeks; I even replaced the stator and recitifier but my battery is only running 8.6 volts while at 3krpm. When I try to start the bike it just makes this loud clicking noise from the battery being low. I can put a new battery in and about a day later it will die… Someone please help. This is becoming such a headache
