How to break in new front rotors and front breaks on a sport bike?
The bike is a 2004 Honda cbr 600 f4i to be exact. I got stock rotors and brakes. I just need to know how to wear them in properly so I don't get warping or anthing.
Go for a long ride. Use the brakes as needed. A couple hundred miles should be enough to bed in the pads to the rotors.
The rotors and brakes are not like cylinder walls with piston ring seats and require a "break in." They are effectively good to go out of the box.
While with anything that involves moving parts and friction, they won't be perfectly alligned straight out of the box, they aren't under constant heavy pressure (if you ride correctly) so normal wear and tear will break them in properly.
Don't go 90mph, and randomly pinch the brakes, let them go, pinch them, let them go, etc. While it is flat out stupid to do so, it would be about the only way you will warp your rotors.
Proper braking should involve engine braking, and the front/rear brakes being applied in unison. So with all three methods being utilized at the same time? Again under normal riding you shouldn't have a problem.
If your in here asking and don't live in San Francisco making deliveries… Chances are you will not use them to extremes to warp them.
Ride like a sane person, brake like a sane person and stay away from the track for at least 100 miles of sane riding.
- Which bike would be a good first sport bike. Looking at CBR1000/600's and also the yamaha R1/R6? I don't know much about the differences, I know some people are all for Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, of Kawasaki. Seems that whatever bike someone has, they say its the best. I wish I could just ride all of them and see for myself. Tampa, FL Sam
- Are sport bikes a lot slower than super sport? I used to have a honda cbr250 but sold it to pay for college. I want to get another bike after I graduate. I was looking at the Honda Cbr500R and the Honda 600RR. Obviously the super sport has a 100cc bigger engine, but is it a lot faster than the 500R? Even more so than you would expect with the 100cc increase due to gear ratio's etc etc?
- How many years will a new car last before it breaks down often? If you buy a brand new car and keep up with maintenance, how many years can you expect to get before it begins breaking down often, requiring frequent and/or expensive repairs? 5, 10, 15, 20? I know this can vary depending on the model, but let's assume a Honda or equivalent Japanese car.
- Why could my 2000 Honda Civic show it's going to overheat I have coolant a new radiator a new radiator cap a new temp gauge switch and? A new thermostat head gasket is fine could it just need to flushed and a new water pump and timing belt
