The engine is. 125 > 80.
Apart from the engine the frame may be the same size but things like the electrics may be 6 Volt on the 80 and 12 Volt on the 12. But that is easy to check. As it has a bigger heavier engine the 12 will probably have stronger shocks, Chain, Clutch and Brakes. If you are planning to put the 125 engine into the 80 frame use it complete including the chain. You may get away with winding the suspension as hard as it will go to cope with the extra weight so you main problem would be stopping

HUM! Yes.
Not a huge difference but the 125is a 'race-machine' and while some do race on 80's the 125's are MUCH quicker.
- Would a 125cc 4 stroke scooter be able to keep up with a 125cc sports bike? I'm thinking of getting a Sym Jet 4 125cc, and my friend rides a Honda CBR 125, we re riding about 3 hours down to the Bulldog Bash, would my scooter be powerful enough to keep up with him? And cruise comfortably at about 60mph? Long and short. How much of an advantage/disadvantage are gears when it comes to acceleration and speed.

I obviously want to avoid cheap Chinese copies, but it's hard to find reviews for 50cc bikes. And then the Honda CB125 seemed good in terms of the 125ccs… Thoughts?
