Motorcycle 1980 Honda CB 750 battery problem?!
Added (1). I bought a 1980 Honda CB 750 motorcycle and the battery died. I put another motorcycle battery, but it died as well. I used my car battery after that, but it also died. It is not the battery. I checked the alternator brushes and they look long enough. What could it be?
You don't check a charging system by looking at it, you check it with a volt meter.
Quite apparently your battery is not charging and that would be alternator or regulator/rectifier.
First of all you need to check the voltage going to the battery from the rectifier/alternator, should read 12.3 -13.5.
Been a long time since working on either the 650 or the 750 but I seem to recall there being a relay up/near by where the battery case is, it may be that relay as that is what went wrong on my 650.
- Would a Honda Shadow Phantom 750 be a begginer motorcycle? OK. I'm 16 years old I've bought all the nessecary gear I got that idea of watching cyclecruza's squid videos and didn't want that to happen to me. Well because I shouldn't look up to my dad who rides a Harley 1200 who only wears a helment a t shirt and just jeans. I know not to go over the speed limit but all I need to know if thus good first bike.
- What motorcycle will give me a similiar ride to my 750 Shadow but bigger? I learned to ride on a 2007 Honda Shadow VT750C2F and now I'm looking to go bigger. I love almost every detail about my Shadow; tire size, spokes, driveshaft, handling, width, engine look and feel etc. However, in my next bike I want a bigger gas tank, more cubic cenimeters (inches) and I want to sit a bit higher on the hog (pun intended). 6 speed would be nice but mostly I want the look, feel and reliability of my Shadow in an 1100cc+. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm looking forward to my first motorcycle, and I think I found one… It's a 1980 Honda CX500, it has 55K miles on it and it also needs a battery, and they also said just a carb clean… It also needs inspection sticker, and they said it will pass with ease… How much should I pay for a bike like this? I live in Texas if that makes a difference.
- Honda 1980 xl250s problem? My bike will not accelerate in 4th or 5th gear. It runs great in 1st 2nd and 3rd it tops out at about 35-40 in 3rd but once I shift to 4th it just stays at around 35mph. When I give it more throttle in 4th gear it just makes a put put sound and looses speed. Can someone please tell me how to fix this.
