Just bought a used 2002 Honda Odyssey- Transmission/TCC Repair Already Needed?

Hi! As of three days ago we purchased a 2002 Honda Odyssey. We took it for a test drive and it drove fine, I had my husby who has repaired and studies Hondas look at it and he said everything looked good so we purchased it for $3000 cash from a private owner. Soon after driving it, I noticed a lurching and the gears not wanting to shift! It was jolting and not wanting to go into reverse at all…
So we took it to AutoZone and they did a diagnostic (which I should've gotten done for free in the first place) and they said it was the TCC and sellunoid…
What are my options? I want to have it repaired, but we can't afford the upfront costs of $2000+. I know that Honda has a bad reputation for their transmissions in Odysseys, but overall they have a good reputation otherwise. We love Honda because we also own a Honda Civic and it is a great car overall as well as other Hondas in the past! Please help! I'm a new owner of a car that does not drive… Thanks

I have no idea what "advice" you could possibly be looking for. You bought the vehicle, foolishly not performing a thorough inspection first. You own it and you have to deal with it. There's no magic wand you can point at it and have it repair itself. Your "options" are very limited: 1) pay to have it fixed properly ; or 2) sell it for parts or to someone who thinks they can fix it less expensively.
