What to tell insurance company after accident?

Yesterday I accidentally hit a woman with my car, no one was hurt, and the only damage to her car was a seemingly minor dent, while there's a good crunch in the hood of my car (97 Honda Odyssey). This really looks like a fairly minor fender bender, but i need to know what my insurance company will want from me. (My car still runs fine; the damage was purely external)

BQ Should I expect insurance rates to go up a lot considering the fact that my car is worth appx 10 cents, and that the other driver had negligible damage?

Just call them----they will want to know the information on the car you hit and the person driving that car. You should have exchanged insurance and drivers license information with that person immediately after the accident.

You should also ask the insurance agent if it would help your future insurance rates if you did not make a claim for your car.

First of all thank god it was a minor accident. Actually it was TOO minor. Contacting the insurance company will just dent your premiums and hers too maybe. Try to settle it in person. I usually don't give such loose advice but considering the low severity of the situation, its best to forget all the paperwork and get on with your lives

Yes. Notify your insurance company. It is the right and proper thing to do. If the guy never files a claim, nothing will happen. If he does, your company will be aware of it and will appreciate that you notified them.

BTW. It is very risky (to your wallet) to settle on your own as one person here has suggested.
N E V E R settle outside of insurance when you have insurance… N E V E R!
