Ow long will it take for a '83 Honda XL250r engine to seize while just sitting?
I'm rebuilding it and have the gas tank and air filter off right now. I won't be able to work on it for a few months and it's kept in my heated basement. How long will it take to seize up? And how to keep it from seizing up without stabilizer.

So long as it's kept oiled and covered it won't seize. The only reason one seizes is because it's left exposed to the elements and the rings rust to the piston walls.
If you oil the cylinder it will sit for years probably… Don't leave any fuel in it.
If the motor is dry and has had oil in it recently it should be fine for a few years minimum.
Open the spark plug and pour some engine
oil into the cylinder and the engine won't seize
from rust
