2004 Honda Pilot Cranks but won't start if I press the gas when starting it starts.Engine lights is off,?
Maintenance required is on but when I reset the lights turned off and everything works for now?
What would be the problem?
1. I'm thinking it is the Timing belts slips
2. Relay maybe lose
3. Crank position sensor lose
What would be the reason trying to get opinion and will look into it whatever is the best possible problem.
Maybe the fuel injectors are dirty or the fuel pump is weak?
None of the Above. When you open the throttle a little does it affect anything you mentioned? NO. It's telling you that it needs MORE Fuel or Air to start. Clean the Throttle Body and Idle Air Controller (IAC). Check your Vacuum lines and fittings while you're there.
Start with the basics.
1] Fuel. Is it getting enough? Check the filter.
2] Air. Is the air filter blocked?
3} Spark. Is it producing a good healthy spark?
Once you've dealt with those then you can begin to look deeper.
When people top off their gas tank the excess gasoline gets into the charcoal canister. That gasoline then gets sucked into the intake manifold through the purge valve. That floods the motor. Holding the gas pedal down all the way turns off the fuel injectors while cranking the motor over and helps give it more air to start the motor.
Take the charcoal canister off and check if it's full of gasoline

You erased the code, so wait til it comes back to pull it and follow what the code means is wrong. Erasing the code is just as useful as arguing with a lightpole- it does not fix anything and wastes time.

- 2004 honda civic starts, but won't drive? Car was in a wreck, but still ran and drove. I was fixing some motor mounts so i jacked up the auto trans. And the motor. After changing them and putting car back together, i started up the car, put it in drive, and it wouldnt move. Same with reverse. It was just running 2 weeks ago when i backed it into my garage. No leaking trans. Oil. So i have no idea what it could be. Anyone know if something might have broken off to cause this? Any help would be appreciated!
