Would a Lifetime Warranty influence your car buying decision?

I'm debating between a 2017 Honda Pilot and 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe. Pilot costs $28K but comes with a Lifetime Powertrain Warranty (several Honda dealers offer this) while Santa Fe costs $25K but just 10year/100k miles warranty.

So do you think its worth paying $3k more for a Pilot especially since it comes with a Lifetime Warranty? I mean the warranty probably is worth $3k alone?

No. Buy the Santa Fe and get rid of it before 100,000 miles. I don't trust dealers on anything they say.

How long do you intend on keeping the vehicle when they worm out of honouring the warranty in 8 years time as all car manufacturers seam to do twist it and say this is fair wear and tear do put too much value on the warranty. Around here all the taxis have turned into diesel Hyundai Santa Fe my friend has 1 she gets 6.5litres per 100k's.

If you plan on keeping the vehicle fro a very long time (ie.Until it is no longer driveable) then the Pilot's warranty looks good, if all other things are equal. However, if you think you might sell the car even at 150,000 or 200,000, it may not be worth it, especailly if you plan on being diligent with the maintenance. Transmissions these days tend to last the life of the vehicle, even with the little maintenance required.

I would be very suspect as to exactly what that "lifetime" warranty actually covers and what it doesn't cover. No warranty is going to cover replacing an engine in a car with 200,000 miles, for example.

No warranty beyond the basic means anything to me, especially if they have the temerity to ask three grand for it.

Lifetime warranty backed by whom? Whose team of lawyers look out for your interests?

Lifetime anything is a farce.

No. Extended warranties are a waste of money especially on a Honda.
