Tire RETREADING - why it can't be done?
Hi
i wanted to get the tires replaced in my honda car -10 yrs old.
i asked if the tires could be retreaded. But was told it can't be done. And he mentioned some term that i can't get.
what are the reason a tire can't be retreaded.
i'm referring to MICHELIN tyres.
how much would be a saving between retreaing in stead of replacing the tire with a new one.
Retreading is rarely done on passenger tires these days due to liability and cost inefficiencies.
If you're too cheap to buy new tires, then buy used ones. Look for used tires in your area on google.
It was done on car tires years ago, but now is only done on larger tires.
Modern passenger tires can't be re-capped. Commercial truck tires only. They aren't built the same way.
Since modern passenger radials can't be re-capped you save nothing by doing something that can't be done. I wouldn't trust a tire carcass more than 10 years old anyway.
- Why motocycle tire label rear/front? I'm a bit confused I was shopping for tires for ma Honda SH150 Scooter. All the tires I found are labeled front or rear and they do not come in pairs. Very confusing. I've always bought car tires with no such issues. Can I just buy two tires of the recommended size. And not worry about the front/rear thing… Help
- Punctured tire replacement - can I replace only 1 tire - is it safe to replace the PUNCTURED tire only? My 2005 Honda Pilot rear left tire was punctured near the threshhold (ie - sidewall), but still usable. Thus the tire dealer patched it only. Should I replace that punctured tire only? Or should I replace the 2 tires on the same axle? Or even buy a whole set of 4 tires? I'm concerned about safety, and thus your best advice is very appreciated.
- If one or two ISP's ban a site and raise prices, can a new one rise up and compete? Why? Why not? What about Honda/Toyota? Or ' MCI & Sprint muscling AT&T aside? Anyone remember Nucor Steel? Each of those took advantage of very different situations, each with seemingly impossible odds. Thing is, they were all LEGALLY allowed to compete. How about here?
- How long can you drive on a donut tire? Look I really need a number of miles i can go. I've heard 500 and 1000 miles. I'm driving on a new donut on the back right tire in a 08 honda crv. I'm going 45mph or less at all times. Drive on paved roads.
