High mileage 10w30
Low 5w30
Forget Anne's advice. It's not relevant. Use 5w-30 fully synthetic. Buy it from a large store or online as it is all to the same high standard.
5w-30 was originally recommended, but I'm pretty sure Honda has followed most manufacturers and has changed the recommendation to 5w-20 which was developed after the manufacture of your car.
It seems the new standards expect somewhat higher oil consumption than what people are accustomed to, so if you use 5w-20 pay especially close attention to the oil to watch for consumption. There are other specs than just weight (ILSAC and ACEA) that are actually more important than the difference between 5w-20 and 5w-30 weights, but no modern oil is being made to fit the specs that your engine specified as new.
- 2004 Honda Pilot! I did an oil change today check the manual for the engine oil capacity, it is 4.8 liters and put 4.4 liters and add .5 ltr? Total engine oil put is 4.9 liters and I'm surprised the dipstick is above the second hole by 10mm. Is it overfill or do i need to remove some?
