What is this weird spring on the crankcase of my 1982 Honda XR80?
Tensioner of the screw that holds the rubber bump stop. The spring lets the rubber distort much more than if the spring was not there.
"On" means stuck on with chewing gum? Take it off.
Can't spot it, but you know where it is on the crankcase so have a look here and tell us.
Not a real good picture. Might be some sort of crank ventilation check valve. Almost looks like innards of a garden hose check valve, to prevent backflow into a trailer's potable water tank.
If it were a dry sump (not likely) it could be oil bag check valve to prevent wet-sumping. I really doubt this, last I saw one was on a '47 WLA.
Can't figure from the single picture. Which is why you take to a motorcycle mechanic and have him tell you what it is.
- Why won't my 1982 honda magna idle? It runs good riding it but it just won't idle. I have to hold it at 3000rpm to idle. It set for years
- Why is my clutch pedal staying on the floor and doesn't spring back up? I have a 92 Honda Prelude Si and I just changed the clutch on it. But now my clutch pedal has no pressure, I'll press the pedal and the pedal will stay down but won't spring back up at all. I already changed the Slave Cylinder. What's going on?
- Right crankcase leaking on honda cb1000r? I just replaced the right side crankcase cover on my cb1000r 2014, all was going good until I saw oil seeping out of some screw areas, I did tighten them very good but still seeping, am I not righting the screws in the correct of what else could it be.
- Is a 1982 Honda cb450 Nighthawk a good bike? I'm looking at a 1982 Honda CB450SC Nighthawk. This is my first bike. There are 26K miles on this bike and the dealer wants $1375 for it. Kelley Blue Book said this bike is worth $1175. I ran a vehicle history report and found nothing wrong. Should I buy it? How much should I pay?
