What is wrong with my honda pliot when i step on the brakes they make a hell of noise? - 1

Needs new brakes - or there's a cat stuck in the caliper - which would you guess is more likely?

The last layer of the brake pad material is DESIGNED to make a horrible noise (but still function) to WARN you it is time to replace the pads…

I've no idea. But an educated guess says you need new brake pads, and possibly new rotors. Get it checked by a brake shop as soon as possible.

Probably in need of new brake pads, and since you neglected to do something about the noise immediately, new rotors as well. At the very least you'll need to have the rotors turned.

They make a metal piece like mounted to the pads so when the pads wear down to where its time to change them it will touch your rotors and make that noise. Most likely the front will worn out more than the rear because most braking are done in the front. You do not need to change the rear but do inspect to see how much life it has in the future.

You went past (more than likely Ignored the "SQUEAKING OR SQUEALING" noise) about a month back. That Squeal noise was coming from your brakes letting you know it is very near time to change the brake pads… Like do it this week. It would have costed you the PADS only. The only reason the car stops at all is because the rear brakes are stopping it, but rear brakes are lousy in emergency stops.
See a mechanic Yesterday already to do the brakes(the fronts) They know what they have to do. And can quote you over the phone.

You now notice the noise of the steel brake calipers gouging out the rotors.(Metal to Metal) This is past any brake pad. You basically have no brakes.
It now costs you ROTORS and PADS. Immediately. You are past the SOON. Your car is illegal LAST WEEK. It costs more because the rotors themselves have to be replaced.
