Honda Civic 2001 Rear Grinding Noise on Brakes?
Whenever I'm stopped and i pump the brake I hear a grinding noise from the rear. Sometimes this also happens when I'm just starting to accelerate. It also seems to apply to the emergency brake. As I take it off I hear the same noise, and even when the car is raised (turned off with emergency brake on) and i'm jacking it up itll make this same noise
You, or someone who is qualified, needs to look at all of the braking system to determine what is causing the noises you are hearing
Faulty / worn out brake linings.
The brake shoes may either be worn out or the lining on the shoes may have separated from the metal shoe and is getting crunched between the drum and shoe. The brake drums need to come off to see what is wrong. My experience with Asian vehicles is the rear brakes many times don't even work and the wheel cylinders are frozen.
With car jacked up and E-brake on you will hear the shoes dragging on the drum… If you have rear disc, the E-brake is internal to the rotor… Check e-brake for wear and adjustment.
- Why does my quad make a grinding noise? Just recently i noticed that my 1990 honda fourtrax 200 rwd was making a grinding noise in the rear. The grinding noise only happens when i turn right. I think it might be the differential but i just wanted some advice on what it might be or what i should do.
- Honda Rebel makes clicking/grinding noise when shifted into gear I was driving it just fine until my rpms went high and it rolled to a stop. Could not get it to move. When I shift into first it makes a grinding noise and it won't even stall if I use the clutch incorrectly. Anyone know what it is?
