What's a really good cheap and affordable road trip car?

I just got my license and I've been looking for a car but I just can't find any. I'm wanting to go for a toyota or a honda because from what I hear there really long lasting cars. I'm not wanting a new car, and what I plan to do with it is I LOVE doing outdoor trips like going camping, or going on longer trips like redwoods Utah and stuff like that but I'm need a good car that won't break and I won't have any problems with it on the road. I've been wanting a toyota matrix or something like a hatchback like it because I like the design of it and I like how it has a larger area of trunk space so I can put my outdoor gear in. I'm definitely not wanting a truck or a huge Suv, cause I want the gas mileage to be affordable, since I live in a small city. One of my friends has a toyota rav4 and I love the size of that, and the idea that if I need to sleep in my car I can just fold the seats back and sleep. And I've also looked at a chevy Aveo, but the seem rather small. I've thought about Subaru but from what i've seen the gas mileage isn't all that great. I've saved up 5000 so far. So what's a good kind of road trip car, any help and ideas would be appreciated?

Go to your local library and read the Consumers Reports car rating issues and books.

Until you get yourself educated on what cars exist, and which ones have the best reliability ratings, and best meet your specific needs, you are not ready to buy any car.

I like the Mazda CX-5. It's a good mix of performance and fuel economy.

SUV gas mileage regardless of how it looks is disappointing at best. The Subaru probably best fits your lifestyle with okay gas mileage considering that it has the best budget AWD system.

  • Honda Nighthawk road trip? About to take my first big motorcycle road trip. Going from Kansas to Texas on my 1992 Honda nighthawk 750. My question is if the bike that old will make it there and back without much trouble and if they make saddle bags and windscreens etc that fit that type of bike? Any pointers would help thanks!
  • Is the 2013 Honda Fit with over 50k miles on its clock still good enough for a road trip I'm going to use it for a 150-mile travel to another city. Is the car still reliable enough to do the job?
  • Is the 2013 Honda Fit okay for a road trip? I'm going on a road trip and I'm going to use my 2013 Honda Fit on this 150-mile trip and this is the first time I'm gonna use this car on a long road trip. It uses a 1.3 L engine. My friend said that its engine will over heat. Although my car still runs like new and never had any major or minor issues… Is it okay?
  • What's a good and affordable Car Insurance in California? I just got a 2007 Honda Civic from a used car lot. I obviously need insurance and this is my first car. Any help on what kinda insurance I should get? Do I need down payment and how much would it be for that and monthly payment?
