What would be a good first car?

I kind of don't want a Honda or a Toyota so are there any other car brands that have reliable cars?

Yeah, Subaru
But your chance of finding a Toyota and Honda is higher especially if your budget is under $6000. Why don't you like Honda or Toyota?

BMWs and Mercedes' are reliable if you regularly maintain them and you could find them used (5 + years old) for quite cheap $25K and below.

Just get something that gets good gas mileage

Mazda 6, Nissan Altima, Ford Focus, Kia Optima, Hyundai Elantra, All good cars.

VW Golf Mk very reliable car, pretty good looking as well as cheap. If you want to go for a more sporty look i also recommend Mazda Rx-8 1.4L. Audi A3 also an option.

Kia is a decent car for being cheap, my dad's car has over 130000 miles on it, and runs great, he doesn't take very good care of it too, it needs it's back spark plugs change but mechanics say his engine will run for about 250000 miles. It does have its downfalls with seat belts not retracting back up.

As for the best price and most reliable cars I've ever seen, has got to be a honda accord. I've seen one of those cars go for 323,000 miles. But with proper Maintenance almost any car can be a reliable car. Of course you got your ford and Chevy guys who are gonna argue to the death, with no actual logical explanations. But in my opinion, don't worry about brand to much. Find something you like, have someone experienced test drive it for you ask for Maintenance records if available. But with used cars you get what you get. I about a used car from a very trusted and experienced mechanic to have the transmission go out a month later. There are certainly a lot of precautions to take when buying a car, but there's absolutely no way to be For sure.

Why not?

I've read that Focus is a good car. Nissan too.

I wouldn't get a VW or Kia or Hyundai despite what consumer reports says.

Much depends on how much you have to spend. If you only have $1200 you can't be picky at all.

Only Honda and Toyota have reliable cars. I would go with a Toyota Matrix. It gets good gas mileage.

  • What would be a good first car? - 1 I'm going to start my summer job in about a month and I'm going to earn around $2,500. I want to use this money to buy my first car. I'm stuck on which car I want to buy. I want the performance of a early 2000's Camaro, the sportiness of a Subaru, at the price of a Honda. What cars do y'all recommend for me. Or should I just get a truck so I can use it for work?
  • Which bike would be a good first sport bike. Looking at CBR1000/600's and also the yamaha R1/R6? I don't know much about the differences, I know some people are all for Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, of Kawasaki. Seems that whatever bike someone has, they say its the best. I wish I could just ride all of them and see for myself. Tampa, FL Sam
