Where is the oil meashurments for my 1987 honda hurricane?

I own a 1987 Honda hurricane and recently I noticed that my enjine gets really hot doing local drives that tells me many there's not enough oul in it so I took it to my mechanic to give it the works and he gouldent find the little eye glass more did the top coe with a dipstick can anyone help me out

There isn't an eye-glass, there's a regular dipstick on the right side of the engine case about 2/3s of the way back from the front. A finger-grab handle, screw it out, the dipstick is attached.

What you don't check your oil level etc regularly? Don't know how to? Remind me not to buy a second hand bike from you.

Should be a dipstick under the oil filler cap. If not they are still available - see the link for an example and image.
CBR600F and CBR1000F were both called 'Hurricane' in the US, so make sure you get the right one for your bike…

Stay away from that mechanic.
Like Chris said, right side of engine.

To check the oil level:
Start and run the engine for a few minutes to fill the oil filter and circulate the oil throughout the engine.
Stop the engine and let it sit for a few minutes to allow the oil to settle to the bottom of the crankcase.
Remove the dip stick and wipe it clean.
Hold the bike upright (as if you were sitting on it)
Insert the dip stick, do not screw it in, let it rest on it's threads.
Add or drain oil as necessary to get the level to the top line on the dip stick.

  • 2006 Honda Pilot oil stick showing low oil? The car has absolutely no obvious leaks and its not burning oil we bought a new stick and changed the oil but yet it's still (stick only) showing as low oil, what could be the issue? Is the stick (bought new one from dealership ) the issue or can it be leaking out somewhere that's not in plain view? I'm taking it to mechanic next week but I'm trying to see if I could get Tips Here first. The car runs perfectly fine, no obvious issues.

  • Is going from synthetic oil in my '03 HOnda Hybrid to regular oil bad? Over 100K miles, always used synthetic oil. Took the car to my mechanic to have brakes checked, and he thought the oil looked dirty so he drained it and put in regular oil. Now I'm concerned about my engine. Advice please? I do not know what kind of regular oil he put in.
