Which of the two vehicles are safe for a long road trip?
I'm going on a somewhat long 2 hour(each way) road trip next week. I have 2 cars and I don't know which one to take.
First car:
2008 Subaru. 62k miles. New tires, new brakes, all new fluids(besides coolant, which is getting done after I get back).
Only issues are that:
1) a TPMS sensor broke off and is rolling around in the passenger front tire(just did a rotation and noticed it)
2) Saw some oil coming from the CV Boots. Oil is gone now. Not clicking or making any weird noises yet. Planning on doing it once it starts clicking as I just got an alignment done and I drove mostly local.
3) steering wheel will sway abit sometimes at speed. It started happening after I rotated the wheel with the rolling sensor to the front, so i assume it's just not balanced.
4) clunking noise coming from passenger side rear end. Almost like a piece of metal hitting a heat shield or something. Only happens sometimes at 15-20 mph
Second car:
2011 Honda. 43k miles. All fluids check out good, new air filter. Tires have decent tread left but are 4 years old.
Issues:
1) alignment may be a little off(see a slight amount of wear on the side of the tread. Nothing crazy though.
2. Front rotor is warped. Shakes a little when slowing from 50 to 40. Completely fine otherwise.
3) headlights are a little dim. They work but aren't as bright as the ones in my Subaru.
So which one is safer to take? Are both good to go? Both are driven daily with no issues. Am I just being paranoid?
Even though it's a 2008, the Subaru. Hondas are pieces of ****
Honda, the alignment won't cause a wear issue in four hours of driving. The CV could go anytime, particularly on sustained road trip.
Both are probably good to go. A two hour road trip is really not that big of a deal. Where I live, we drive that far for a beer.
You are being paranoid. Both cares are still considered low mileage. If in doubt take the newer car.
After all that, my choice is: paranoid.
Get your warped rotor fixed.
And that pressure sensor, take care of that too. Out of balance makes the ture wear abnormally.
Paranoid? I would say so!
A two hour road trip is hardly a 'marathon'. I drive in excess of that nearly every day of my working life.
Any roadworthy vehicle should be suitable.
- Honda Nighthawk road trip? About to take my first big motorcycle road trip. Going from Kansas to Texas on my 1992 Honda nighthawk 750. My question is if the bike that old will make it there and back without much trouble and if they make saddle bags and windscreens etc that fit that type of bike? Any pointers would help thanks!
- Is the 2013 Honda Fit with over 50k miles on its clock still good enough for a road trip I'm going to use it for a 150-mile travel to another city. Is the car still reliable enough to do the job?
- Is the 2013 Honda Fit okay for a road trip? I'm going on a road trip and I'm going to use my 2013 Honda Fit on this 150-mile trip and this is the first time I'm gonna use this car on a long road trip. It uses a 1.3 L engine. My friend said that its engine will over heat. Although my car still runs like new and never had any major or minor issues… Is it okay?
- Two vehicles to choose from, what do you think? 1998 Honda CR-V AWD 1200$ 337,000 km Or 2003 Volkswagen Jetta 1.8 2000$ 250000 I was told the honda is cheaper to fix and maintain hands down?
