2000 v6 honda accord won't shift from park?

Ok every now and then my automatic accord will get stuck in park and i can't shift i have to press down the safety lock button so i can get it in drive. What could the problem be? I'm not dumb my foot is on the brake and i've replaced the brake light sensor already. What should i do next could it be a fuse? This problem only occurs once or twice a week i drive everyday

Had a friend with a honda accord did the same thing never figured it out

There may be a shift lock solenoid located under the shifter console which is beginning to have issues. It releases the shifters locking mechanism once you push the button. If its not the issue, maybe the button itself is sticking. You can spray some wd40 between the handle and the button to unstick it. Check fuses #13 and 21.#13 goes to the brake light switch and 21 goes to the shift interlock solenoid. Check them for corrosion too.Click the link below then scroll down til you get to the 2 diagrams labeled interlock system.Enlarge each diagram to see how the interlock system is powered.

Derek: If you have replaced the brake light switch then let me ask you the first question: Do the brake lights lit up when you step on the pedal? If not then yes it could be a fuse.
Since you said: "Ok every now and then my automatic accord will get stuck in park" makes me think that the shifting cable is out of adjustment or need to be replaced. A quick test you can do is set the parking brake firmly then put the shifter in P and N position and see if you can start the car. If the car won't start in either position: The cable need adjustment, replace or the cable mounting bracket, bolts or bushings need to be looked at.
If indeed the brake lights are on then my second question: Do you hear a clicking noise under the shifter every time you step on or off (The pedal)? If not, then it could be the second fuse, the shift interlock solenoid, a corrode ground etc.
Now let see: There are two related fuses that you'll need to check: Fuse # 9 (7.5A) in the driver side under dash fuse/relay box and fuse # 47 (20A) in the under hood fuse/relay box. Check both of them with a volt/Ohm meter, make sure both has B+ (Battery Power) to them. # 9 will have power with the key on, # 47 is hot all of the time.
See the wiring diagram below. I use the sub model LX since you have not specified what's yours is. Let me know if yours is not LX V6.
If everything checked out good so far then you'll have to remove the center console to expose the shifter column and the shift interlock solenoid.
Remove the connector to the shift lock solenoid (Yellow and Green wires) and put the volt meter on the Yellow wire terminal (Connector side) and a body ground: Turn the key on: Do you have B+?:
No: Recheck fuse # 9, if the fuse good then repair the open wire (Yellow) between the solenoid and the under dash fuse box.
Yes: With the shifter in Park, press the BRAKE pedal, do not press the accelerator pedal and measure the voltage between the shift lock solenoid connector terminals (Both Yellow and Green): Is there B+?:
Yes: Check the shift lock mechanism, if it good (No play or sticking) replace the shift lock solenoid.
No: You have wiring problem (Open) from there to the PCM or the PCM is defected.
It's not the whole procedure but that's the most quickest and common failed for stuck in park problem. Look into this link, there are some picture for the break down of the shifter (Some pictures)
