2004 Accord come with either 2.4L or 3.0L only no 2.0L. Anyway, the problem is whoever trying to program the system without using the "Special" programmed ignition key (BLACK color) came original with the car., not the GRAY color one.
Type 4 immobilizer system that disables the vehicle unless a programmed ignition key is used. The Type 4 system is different than previous systems in that the transponder ID code in the key is a rolling-type code instead of a set code. This programmed ignition key refers to a transponder-type key that has been cut to fit the ignition switch and whose transponder ID code is recognized by the immobilizer system. If you try to start the engine without a programmed ignition key, the engine cranks, but it will not start and all data in the controller will be erased completely.
The only fix will be: Replacing the immobilizer control unit-receiver and the PCM. The new keys, two gray keys and one programmed black key come with the new controller and program the new controller and keys.
I'm sorry, that is the fact and I suggest you to contact your local dealer about the situation. The information I have given to you are from Honda as I worked for a Honda dealer for 6 yrs. Do not remember the part numbers nor the TSBs involved for the matter but I did the repair works a lot of times when the owners accidentally used the BLACK key and try to start the car. It should be used only for/when re-program the Immobilizer system only. HTH
- 2004 Honda Pilot Cranks but won't start if I press the gas when starting it starts.Engine lights is off,? Maintenance required is on but when I reset the lights turned off and everything works for now? What would be the problem? 1. I'm thinking it is the Timing belts slips 2. Relay maybe lose 3. Crank position sensor lose What would be the reason trying to get opinion and will look into it whatever is the best possible problem.
- My 1983 Honda nighthawk 650 won't start with the electric start? I recently replaced the ignition coils because the old ones were getting heat soaked and the bike would die, however now the bike won't start with the electric start it turns over fin and the starter sounds fine but it won't start occasionally it ll start when it's cold or try to but I've been having to bump start it in order to ride it. So what's making it do this? Could it be the kill switch? Or something else?
- I have a Honda HRX217 push mower. Backfired when trying to start it, now it won't start? It was running, then I shut it off to open and close a gate, and when I went to start it again there was a really loud backfire and now it won't start. It will sound like it's almost about to start but not. Then get progressively weaker each pull. I changed the spark plug and cleaned the air filter. Any ideas?
- I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect? I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect. I did a compressin test, the pull start only gets the mower to 60psi but the drill gets the mower to 150psi. This mower does have a decompression vale where the ehaust opest about 1/8 of the way. I tore the ead off and checked and cleaned the valves. They don't stick open. Could there be an issue with the decompression valve? Or would it be the piston rings?
