My car brand new battery keeps dying out?
I have a 95 honda accord v6. A month ago I was driving and at some point turned the car off. When I tried to start it back up it wouldn't start. I got a jump. 10 minutes later it died again. I purchased a new battery only to find out it still won't start. So I assumed it was the alternator. I took it to a local shop they tested the alternator and it tested out good. But still after I jump the car and drive it once I turn it off it won't start. Something is draining or not charging the battery. I'm not sure what it is. Could it be a shortage somewhere? The radio? Or the horn that was installed two months ago in my car. Not the horn connected inside the steering wheel but but an external one brought from autozone.
Added (1). Can anyone give me some suggestion to what could be the problem?
Check the battery's voltage. Most likely it's good. If good then it's not a battery problem.
You need to check for power drain at battery with everything off.
A check for milliamps flow from battery positive to wiring ought to show a millamp flow around 300 or so.
Higher will often mean we have a parasitic drain or short to earth thus draining any battery.
Lok on U tube fir how to test, eg flow, circuit test, puling fuses etc.
Otherwise any decent garage can trace and sort for you.
Disconnect that new horn. I bet your troubles will go away.
Usually there are only three problems which create problem in starting a car. 1) battery 2) alternator 3) external source, after your engine get heat up it create problem, this problem mostly generated from the battery but as you said you have changed the battery, the problem is with the battery try some good battery brand and high battery ampere then the problem will be solved and if the problem still persist then it may be anything is directly connected to your battery that's it, in very rare chances the alternator create problem, I'm sure your car has a battery problem which is not able to take load after car heat up… Try some different battery with high ampere.
- What brand new car can I walk out with $19,500? I asked a previous question about buying a Honda CR Z but that's probably out of reach so If I could walk out the door with a car for only $19,500 that'd be great. ( $15,000 loan 4% interest and $5,000 down payment) What are some suggestion? Some makes I'm interested in is Mazda, Hyundai, Honda, & Nissan. Since I've driven big trucks most I'm interested in compact cars. Maybe like a coupe or hatch back or something like a Veloster.
- Is my honda Rebel motorcylce battery dying? When I ride my motorcylce and squeeze the clutch in, my bike sometimes dies. I can roll on the throttle and press the ignition button and it comes back on but will die again here and there when i hold the clutch. At night I noticed when I squeeze the clutch the light gets dim (before it dies). I did run out of gas and a few weeks ago and noticed this after using the reserves and believed it was sediment in my fuel line. Now i'm not sure.
