First off make sure the battery is charged. If the battery is good then verify there's voltage at the starter solenoid with key in start position. If voltage is present it most likely needs a starter replacement. If not then check starter relay/ fuse in fuse block.
Bad battery.
It's a low battery
Fast click = bad battery or drained batt. Have alt inspected while at it. One single click = bad starter. Or bad starter relay. Diagnose a bad relay first. IF the positive battery terminal has that powdery blueish/green powder you have a bad ground(fix it) could be few other things but that should get you started.
- Motorcycle starter over heated starter and only the solenoid clicked so i rebuilt the starter n tested it with a battery n it worked fine? Put it back in bike and again only the solenoid clicks… Is there a fuse for the starter or a relay i may have blown? 1988 honda hurricaine 1000F i'm ready to hang it up but the bike runs so good when it runs. i ran out of gas n kept trying to start it till battery was dead and that is how it got this way. Please and thank-you starter works fine when hooked up to a battery off the bike. what gives?
- I have a Honda GSV 190 mower engine with a broken starter rope and stud stuck in starter that I can't remove. Any ideas would be great When removing the nuts holding the recoil starter in place the nut on the front of the starter is stuck. When I try to remove it the whole stud come out of the engine. Leaving the engine cover stuck to the starter preventing me from replacing the rope. I have tried everything I can think of to remove it with no luck. Heres what it looks like. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/bolt-stud-h425mm-p-554740.html
- How many amps can I draw from an add on fuse circuit connected to the fuse box? I want to install an invertor on my 1996 Honda using a fuse add in circuit like this on: http://m.aliexpress.com/item-desc/702894978.html I do not want to install a relay off the battery so is this a safe option to draw 20amps? Though the fuse box. I only want to know if its safe to draw that much current though this method. I know all about the alternators limitions etc.
- My 1997 Honda CR-V won't start. It clicks rapidly when I turn the ignition? I know it could be a bad battery, but what else could be causing this? Maybe a bad starter or altinator?
