Should I take this freelance job?

I'm a freelancer in LA. I got this job that starts next is fine and it's "ongoing" meaning a few weeks or more, which is good because I haven't had (long term) contract jobs in a while.

The only issue? Distance: 30 miles each way. For me, I just have an older car and I worry that it'll strain it in the long run? It's a 2000 Honda Civic Ex, and it crossed the 200K mileage mark a few months ago! It hasn't "broke down" in over two years, and I changed the engine over a year ago. I know it can drive 30 miles each way, but is it too much stress over a few weeks?

thank you

Added (1). **Sorry, the title should be: CAN MY CAR HANDLE THIS COMMUTE?

If it's been maintained correctly it's no problem.

Five years ago I completed a two week trip from London England to Pamplona Spain in a 27 year old 602cc Citroen 2cv with 168k miles on the original engine; it never missed a beat despite driving for up to 12 hours a day at up to 70mph with some sections of the journey being a constant 70mph for over 3 hours between refuelling stops. At the end of the outward journey the heavily loaded car had to climb over a mile high on a steep mountain road over the Pyrenees before the final leg to Pamplona. Before and after the trip it was my daily drive each day on a 40 mile return trip through London and never let me down. I now drive a Porsche Boxster 2.7 just two years younger than your car and fuel costs apart, would think nothing of driving 600 miles in 12 hours after just checking the oil, coolant and tyre pressures. I can do that because I just maintain correctly. (For the record, the 2cv was far more fun to drive, and a LOT cheaper to run and maintain; I regret selling it).

For a 2000MY Civic it should be nothing… IF correctly maintained. I'm also surprised the last engine died at just 200k, with regular oil changes the engine should have been good for far more than that. Basically if you're one of those "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" types who only ever refuels the car and maybe checks the tyres occasionally then you're asking for trouble.

  • What age car should I choose for delivery pizza job? When shopping for used car, I noticed same make and model values dropped fast from brand new into few years old. Now I saw one 10 years old for 5999. 15 years old for 4999, 20 years old for 3999, 25 years old for 3499. Which would you choose? It's all same manufacturers make and model. All 4 of them have 40,000 miles on it. I got all of them inspected and they all excellent conditions. They all are Honda. Which would you pick?

  • Where should I take my Honda for service? It's a 1999 Honda CRV with 150K miles on it and it runs great. Should I take it to a Honda dealer? I usually get my vehicles serviced at a Goodyear shop, does it really make any difference?
  • Body Kit and Paint Job Install? I have a 2001 Honda Civic EX Coupe, I have just purchased a bodykit, Halo Lights, and a passenger fender after a recent accident I got into. I was curious as to how much it would cost to have the bodykit and fender installed on my car at a mechanic as well as maybe an entire car paint job. The paint job isn't necessary at the moment but it'd be nice to know an estimate for it all by someone with experience.
