Will this alternator work with my car?
So basically I have a 2009 1.8L Honda Civic EX. I'm in the market for a new alternator but recently wanted to add better speaker/tweeters and lots of interior lighting. Well bad news, the stock alternator makes a mere 70 amps. So after looking at non OEM alternators, I find they're very specific on makes and models, what exactly can i use or not use in my civic? I see some nice ones, lots of amps to play with extra but labeled for "2.0L 2006-2009 Civic SI" and look to be the same exact layout and everything as a normal civics alternator. I always thought as long as its not so big that you can't physically fit it in your car that you could put it in your car, but with all the plug in's that i'm sure are Honda specific, it's hard to tell what would work in my car.
New high output alternators are quite pricey, but you get what you pay for when it comes to electronics. Even if you can get the alternator to fit properly, that's not the main thing you have to worry about. The internals and voltage regulator are the main things which have to be matched properly. If you get one that has the wrong voltage regulator, it can burn things up in the electrical system. Your speakers aren't gonna consume extra power, they'll be feeding off the power from the radio itself. If you were to install a amp to provide extra power to push those speakers then the amp would be consuming extra power from the battery.I'm not sure what kind of lighting you're planning to use, but it might/might not need extra alternator capacity. I find a 125amp alternator at Napa so check the link below.

It should fit, the Ex unit made by Mitsubishi and the Si unit made by Denso, the different is the "Guts" which responsible for the higher output in amperage.
Since you said something about the lighting, the upgrade of the stereo. These articles may interest you, one of the article even has a formula to find out how much power the car need when upgrading.

- Will a car dealership work with me if I'm gonna lease a new car, while trading in the car I have, which has an outstanding loan against it? The car I have now has a loan against it which is worth more than the trade in value of the car by about $5000. If me and a family member were BOTH looking to lease a new car (so 2 new cars), does anyone know if a dealership will be working to work with me in any way? Also the cars looking to be leased are not high end or luxury cars, they d be coming from a dealership like Honda, Toyota, or Subaru.
- New alternator doesn't fit or it really hard to get in to the bracket, what should I do? I have a Honda Passport 1998, and I replace the alternator for it. I did check the new one and the old one, they are just the same. The problem is when I install new one, it hard to get in to the bracket even I try to wiggle and hammer it by wooden block. Should I grind the new alternator? Or is there any good solution for it?
- My car doesn't have a radio. Will any car radio work for it? I have a 94 nissan Pathfinder and when i purchased it, it didn't have a radio. My girlfriend has a junk 98 honda civic and the radio in it still works. Will it work inside of my car? It's the stock radio. Be gentle i don't know anything about cars
- Honda Civic Alternator stuck? I have a 2000 Honda Civic and I've loosened all the bolts I need to to remove the alternator belt, but the alternator itself won't move. Any tips on how to break it free so I can get that belt off?
