How i get duplicate keys for my honda car? - 1

I think better to go honda car company and request new key

You'd likely have to buy another, you can duplicate the manual key that goes in the door but thats unlikely as few people do that.

At a dealer. Bring the car's VIN.

If you have the original key, Have a duplicate made or buy one from a Honda dealer

Depends on the age of the car but I'm sure your car requires a key with a chip. My mom has a 2012 Civic she bought used with only one key and later on her dog chewed up that key so to have a replacement key was 200 bucks for the key and programming and an additional 100 bucks for each additional key she bought.

Bring the car, the original key and the usual ownership documents to any Honda dealership, and request a copy of your key. Problem solved. Or…

Go to any registered locksmith with all of the above and request a copy of your key. Also problem solved. Here is what NOT to do…

Do NOT go to a big box department store or local hardware store and ask them to cut a copy of your key. Yes they're cheaper than a dealership or locksmith service, but that's because they don't know sh*t from short change about keys and locks. They have no idea how a security chip works, they don't know how locks work, and they offer no guarantee of any kind on the quality of their products or workmanship.

Go to your local Honda dealer. And bring a big chunk of cash.

  • Will my keys get locked in my car? Tonight when I leave work, I wanna start my car ahead of time for the first time. I've never done it before since I'm afraid my doors will lock and my keys will be inside. I have a 2007 Honda Civic coupe. If I start my car to let it warm up, I then shut the door, and go inside for about ten mins, will my door stay unlocked? Or will my keys get locked inside?
  • Separate Keys for Ignition / Doors = Stock? I just bought a 2002 honda civic coupe LX and it has a separate key from the door locks and the ignition. I have to bring both keys to use the car the door keys only works on the doors and the ignition key only works for ignition. Can it just be a single key?
