I got 3 months behind on my car payment?

When I lost my job. I tried making half-payments and even told Honda that I was going to make payments every two weeks to catch up, but with late fees and interest adding up plus the new months bill, it's still 3 months behind. The total is 860.00 -- I sent them 360.00 last week, and 400.00 TODAY. That leaves 100$ on the bill for this month. They called today to telling me they were going to repo. Can they still repo my car? I'm scared. I've tried talking to them and making arrangements but all they do is harass and threaten me. I know I got behind so don't give me any lectures--I lost my job okay. Sh*t happens, but I've been trying!

They can still repo legally. Hopefully seeing that you are making such a good effort they won't.

Yews they can co0me and get it. They offe3red you a 1 shot deal of 860.00 to get caught up To be paid all at once and you couldn't even do that… You need to contact the lender and see if they will either let you get caught up again or pay the loan bal all at once to get the car back. If not they will sell it and sue you for the loan bal plus all fees and sue you for it.

Yes, they can repo the car and you will wind up owing almost as much as teh loan balance when they add repo fees and you won;t have the car and that balance will keep increasing

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. Unfortunately, car finance companies have the legal right to repossess your vehicle even if you are just one day late paying your bill. Partial payment on your car note is not full payment. Therefore the unpaid portion is considered late. The lender still has a right to repossess the vehicle for non-payment. Try staying in contact with them, let them know of your miss fortune, although the are not obligated to give you a break, it's not unheard of. Also, I'm sure things will turn around for you, but just in case you find yourself a little behind again and unable to make a payment, call them before the payment is due. They may be able to defer the payment, which means the bank would allow you to skip a payment and add it to the end of the loan. They will require you to pay the interest portion of that month's payment, but that will likely be substantially lower than the full payment. However, every lender has a different policy and they may require you to be current on the loan to exercise this option I wish you the best.

Yes, they can because they are not required to accept anything less in payments than you agreed to in your contract.
My suggestion, hide the car from the repo man until you get caught up in your payments.
Keep in mind that many car dealers install GPS on cars.

Hmm, I guess it would depend on how long you've been running in arrears.

Sure they can repo the car, you failed to maintain your part of the contract. They are doing that because they have not seen the $400 you claim to have sent them today

Yes, they can repo. You don't have any legal right to alter the payment schedule just because it suits your needs. That's what a CONTRACT is all about.

Yes, they can repo your car. You breached your contract when you didn't pay on time. You should've gotten another job, ANY job, just to keep your payments current. Or better yet, bought a car you could afford.

Yes. If you don't pay enough, then they can do everything that they could do if you paid nothing.
