1994 accord sat for 4 years. Repair

So I've got a 1994 honda accord dx 140k miles thats sitting behind the house. Long story short, its missing its front and rear bumpers and pretty sure it will need a new drivers door. Battery needs to be replaced and possibly the alternator.

So first off, is it worth fixing? It ran fairly good before the parts got stolen and 140k miles isn't bad. I'm on a tight budget so if this is cheaper than buying another clunker ill fix this up.

Also is there anything i can check or repair myself before buying the parts to see if it's worth it?
Nothing big but anything i could potentially learn online. I've got a lot of time on my hands. Its been turned on once in the past 4 years (about a year ago) so i'm sure itll need some new fluids, brakes.
And would i need a mechanic to do the bumpers, door, possibly alternator or could i manage that myself with some online help?

Maybe a total cost guesstimate from someone who knows a bit about these old hondas?

The car itself in running condition will be worth like a $1000-$1200 value.
If you goto a local junk yard, you can most likely find the parts your looking for. Shop around, lots of junk yards have these parts, if you get a matching car, your in luck. The parts might cost you (ball park)
Bumper- about $150 to $200 max for front and back both.
Doors- depending on the salvage yard anywhere from $40-$100.
Battery $80 bucks.
Yes do complete fluid change - oil/transmission/radiator coolant. ($80 do it yourself it's easy).
Alternator is something you can do it's easy.
It's also better to replace spark plugs and wires, and possibly distributor cap also ($80 total at autozone)

To get it up your looking around $500 which isn't bad at all. If the rest of the body and engine is good as you say, I would do it.

No idea

  • How to repair a rounded bolt head on rear brake caliper in a tight space? 1996 Honda Accord? I was replacing by brake pads on my 1996 Honda Accord when I noticed the top bolt on the caliper was rounded off. It is a 12mm bolt and there's little to no space to deal with this. I'm not sure how to get it off since it is in such a tight spot with no room to really do much. Any suggestions on how to remove this stubborn thing?
