2004 Honda Accord- is it a good first car?

Hi i'm getting my learners real soon and will need a car. My grandparents have a save fund for me for school or a car, I found this Honda Accord 2004 for 2,000. It has 66,000 km on it a V6 engine, with all the bells and whistles (navigation, xm radio, bluetooth, etc.) but i could care less about that stuff except for the AC, and bluetooth. Are they good reliable cars that are also good on gas and easy to fix. My family has never owned a Honda before so they can't really tell me if they are good or not. My grandpa has over 40+ years of mechanic experience along with my uncles 20+ years of mechanic experience, so they could fix it and check it over before. Also are they manual or automatic, as I don't want a manual.

Added (1). Ok thank you, my grandpa said before i buy any car hes going to do an inspection of it. The person selling it, is basically a stranger to me. My whole family thought 2k was a very low price for that kind of car also

Hondas in general are great, very reliable cars. (The Accord in particular.)

Keep in mind that, like any car, basic maintenance (at minimum) is key. This means changing oil regularly, etc. Keep your car happy, and it will keep you nice and safe. BEFORE you seal the deal, make sure to get the car thoroughly checked by a trusted, mechanically-inclined person; just to be on the safe side.

EXCELLENT first car! BUT that price is not right, unless it's a family or friend selling it to you. Look on Kelly Blue Book to see what its estimated value should be. For 2,000 bucks you may want to get a full inspection before you buy it. Make sure you get it inspected at a place personally, and also not with the dealership or person that's selling it to you. If nothing's wrong with it-congratulations, you've found the holy grail of used cars for the holy grail of a price.

I like mine, its never broke down, just change the oil is all i do. The v6 is great on the road, but not the best on gas. It will get around 25-30mpg depending on how heavy your foot is. Most of them are autos, its rare to run into a manual 'loaded' car, you see manuals usually in 4bangers that are stripped and the person buying it was trying to get it at the lowest possible price…

  • Is this a good deal. First car? 98 Honda Civic? http://phoenix.craigslist.org/evl/cto/4475499700.html So the engine was replaced and it has 65K miles on it. Is it worth it? And this would be my first car.
  • Is a honda civic si a good first manuel car? Ok so my parents want to buy me a $10k car because I just graduated from a military school. I've alwYs love and had a honda so I said what the heck let me get a honda civic si. I drove manuel before and have the idea of how to do it but still learning. Is it a bad idea to get it manuel if I'm just a beginner? Will it last me awhile? Is insurance going to be crazy? I'm a 20 year old who has been driving for 2 years. FEEDBACK
  • Is a Honda Civic a good first car? My parents have been looking for a car for me (I'm 17) for the past couple of months. Their price range was around $10k so we've been looking at quite a few used cars, but none have really been that great. Today we found a used 2012 Honda Civic Coupe EX for $14.5k. It even has navigation and a sunroof. Do you think it's a good deal? And do you think it would be a good first car? Any help is really appreciated, thank you. Also the mileage on the car is 35k.
