99 honda accord v6 idling high?

So to begin with, I had an oil leaking problem where all my oil drained out so i stopped driving my honda for about a month. I finally got the time to fill the oil back up but now it has a new problem, it is idling at 2000 rpm and revs up on its own. It started doing this just from sitting there, what happened? What can it be?

It's the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve). Replace it and clean out the Throttle Body (TB) will take care of the problem. The article in this link will help:

Edit: Find out where is the oil leak and fix it As soon as possible. It's bad for running low or no oil.

  • 1994 Honda Magna 750 not idling? My 1994 Honda Magna Motorcycle is not idling properly. This is a fairly new bike it only has 8 thousand miles. I did leave it in the rain a few times when the rain caught me off guard, and the only other thing I can think of is maybe dirt got into it? When its left alone running the RPMs will go from about 1.5k to 0 slowly and die. To keep it running I must keep gassing the throttle, and when the choke it pulled it kills it.
  • Idling issues with a 97 Honda Civic DX? Ok so i have a 97 civic dx, d16y7 motor, and i'm having problems with my idling. when the car sits in park it sounds like someone is hitting the gas and letting go and constantly does, when in drive there's no problem. I went to the pick n pull to get another IACV, but it does the same thing. I cleaned my old and new one and i've also cleaned the tb. The car still runs but this bugs me and i really want to be able to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
  • I Have a 2000 honda Civic Hatchback That Revs high? I notice this happens when i'm in heavy traffic just sitting there or going 10- 15 miles per hour then coming back to full stop and it is a warm 80-85 or a little hotter. I notice when either idled or stopped it revs high. It doesn't do it at first but if I happen to be stopped or not going full speed for amount of time then i notice it will Rev higher. But then when I start going 40 or higher in speed then is ok. Any help on this would be nice.
  • Car is making a really soft hallow whistling sound, but only when idling Is this something that requires immediate attention? There's no performance issues but I'm wondering if it can snow ball into something worst. It's a 2004 honda civic 180, xxx miles
