Crank, but no start Honda Accord Lx 1990?
So my Accord was stolen last week, and now that I've recovered it, with for some ridiculous reason only the hood rod and a radiator hose missing it won't start. The thieves removed the covers to my steering panel and left wires exposed, I managed to plug them all back in but now I crank and I get no sign of life. However, my horn and brake lights to activate. What could this possibly be?
Possibly the thieves disconnected or took something from the ignition circuit or distributor/ rotor… Or the fuel pump relay to keep someone from taking the car from them… Or blown ignition fuse, bad relay, etc… Do you hear the fuel pump in the gas tank kick on when key is turned on? If not, check for a missing relay or blown fuel pump fuse, etc.
Those models did have issues with distributors going bad too… Usually from a bad internal oil seal for the dist shaft. Could be coincidental that it went bad when they stole it. Pull the dist cap and check inside for excess oil inside the dist… Shorted out ignitor, bad coil, etc.
Install a rebuilt dist or good used one if need be and available… Or replace any defective parts like ignitor.
- How come my atv won't electric start but will crank if I push start it? 2006 Honda trx. Doesn't have a pull rope only electric start. The starter motor turns over the engine but just won't start but I'll push it down the yard with it in gear and it will fire right up. I'm so confused by this.
- Honda replaced my serpentine belt but my car is now taking longer to crank? Honda recently replaced my serpentine belt (2012 Honda Civic, 185k miles). I noticed that on cold starts, the car takes longer to crank and then eventually starts. Sounds like it doesn't want to start but then does. I will take it to Honda but I'm just curious what this is likely caused by? Loose belt? Tight belt? Pulley issue? No noticeable squealing, just the crank time. Instead of the usual 1-3 seconds, now my car takes about 3-5.
- 2000 Honda Civic will crank but not start I have a 2000 Honda Civic. I traded for it, I was actually a previous owner of it and it ran fine back in the day. I wanted it back and found it. It has been sitting in this guys yard for about 2 months. I go to start it up. It starts up just fine… Then it randomly just shuts off and never have been able to start it up again. It cranks and it smells rich in gasoline when you crank it a couple times. I checked the fuses and battery. Any help would be great.
