Does the timing belt on an 08 Honda Accord need to be changed?
I'm looking for a car and came across an 08 honda accord. The seller has told me that up to 2008 Honda Accords, they do not change timing belts. Is this true? It has 4 cylinder engine.
4cyl Accords 2003-2007 has timing chains and lasts a very long time. 6cyl though and later models have timing belts, which is estimated to last 7 years or 105k miles and will need replacement.
The 2008 Accord does not have a timing belt, it has a timing chain that does not need to be changed.
Anyone that tells you different is out to lunch.
The FOUR BANGER has TWO TIMING CHAINS and requires FULLY SYNTHETIC OIL that will keep the hydraulic tensioners CLEAN and FREE of tarry sludge deposits! The ACCORD V6 DOES have a timing BELT that needs to be changed every 100k miles or so! YOUR HONDA is SUPERB! DO NOT USE VALVOLINE and other WAX based junk oil in it! MOBI LONE 0W-30 or AMSOIL will keep your hydraulics SHOWROOM CLEAN and FRESH with NO DEPOSITS at all!
The 2008 Honda Accord does have a timing belt and does need to be replaced when worn
any vehicle with a timing belt needs to be replaced when worn
they might mean that THEY don't change the belt, someone somewhere else might
If that belt has not been changed since it was bought then absolutely get it changed. That is an item that should be changed out every 50K to 75K miles
- How much does it cost to replace the timing belt on a 2004 Honda Element? I'm looking to buy my first car and I'm looking at a Used Honda Element. The only thing I'm concerned about it that the car has a lot of miles (200,000) and the timing belt hasn't been replaced. Generally, how much would that cost?
- 2000 honda cr-v b202z engine .i replaced timing belt and now it won't idle. I set the timing. I did all the steps? 2000 honda cr-v b202z engine. I replaced timing belt and now it won't idle. I set the timing. I did all the steps?
- I have a 2000 Honda Civic with 140,000 miles on it. Do you think the timing belt has been changed? I read somewhere that they are supposed to be changed at 105,000 miles, or seven years. My car has a lot more miles than that, and twice the age. Do you think the belt has been changed before? Or is it possible it's the original belt? Would the original have lasted this long?
- Have a misfire in cylinder 1 on 99 Honda Accord lx. I change the timing belt. One I change the belt I turn the car on and it turn on normal? A couple minutes later I noticed the misfire can't tell from looking engine. I noticed it for the exhaust. No smoke was coming out. Took it apart to look at the timing and everything lines up. I saw the spark plugs and wires on cylinders 1 and 2 still no difference. Any ideas.
