How is the transmission in the 1997 Honda Accord?
I know that there was a long string of accords that had horrible transmission issues. 2001-04 for sure, but did that dip into the 97 year?
Now for some reason whenever I've ever posted a question about getting an older car I get bashed for it, so let me make something very clear; I've always believed that the age of a car is actually based more upon its mileage than how many years old it is. This 97 accord v6 that I plan to check out has 113,000 miles on the clock and has been maintained.
So what do you think; are the tranny's on this car year solid or is it too risky? Are there any other know problems on this year?
Now obviously when I examine and drive the car I'll be able to tell if the tranny is slipping, but I just like going into a situation as informed and knowledgeable as possible.
Just make sure it's had a service around 80K.
- Transmission going out on friend's 2004 Impala. Is it possible to install a manual transmission taken from a 1992 Honda Civic in this car? Not worth replacing trans on a car this old, but the engine and everything else are still perfect. My friend was able to get a free manual trans from a 1992 Honda Civic. But i'm not sure whether or not you can use a trans from a different vehicle
- Will a 1999 Honda Accord engine fit into a 1997 accord? I found a 1999 engine for an accord. I just need to know does it fit a 1997. Or any other make or model
- Can you put a 7 speed manual transmission in a car that comes stock with a 4 or 5 speed manual transmission? I'm just curious to know if this is possible or if anyone has tried it. I wany to know what is possible to get the most out of a car. I'm probably going to be getting an acura(no hondas) and doing the necessary upgrades, turbo and all that. If anyone has any experience let me know
- Wondering if this stereo system would be compatible with a 1997 Honda accord? I've been looking at stereo systems and ideally this one has everything I want. I'm just not sure if it's compatible with my car.
