My car keeps shutting off while driving
I have a 99 honda accord ex, I know i'm suppose to let the car warm up before driving so i usually let it warm up for minute or 2 and start driving. But every once in a while when i slow down or stop, and then push the gas pedal to continue driving it shuts off. So i have to put it on park in the middle of the street and start it up again. I'm not sure what's wrong with it. The battery is only a couple months old and the alternator is about 3 years old. I don't know what else it could be.
Take it to car fix
Get a mechanic to check it as soon as possible.
Bad fuel pump? And NO you do not have to warm the car up it no longer has a carbuerator.
Warming up in the summer is a needless waste of time and energy. On a 0 degree winter day is justified.
IAC valve is sticking especially if this problem is ongoing.
A fuel pump normally will progress from bad to worse quickly and fail.
There could be any number of troubles. Do an OBD2 code check to narrow it down to real stuff and not a guess.
In that era Honda the top suspect is a bad ignition switch, which will give itself away by the warning lights not coming on when the engine dies. If you don't have that clear symptom the least expensive way to get it fixed is to take it to a mechanic. You could guess and throw a fortune at it and never fix it.
