My car would only start in neutral?
I recently got a 96 Honda Accord ex. I had the starter changed and ignition switch fixed. The starter I actually had changed a second time and the car was running very well after that. The previous owners mentioned to me that when the car gets too hot or after driving it for a while, the car won't start. We thought the mechanic fixed the problem with the starter change but apparently that wasn't it. I drove around to a bunch of places and when I got home, I found later on that my car did not want to turn over once I tried to get back in it. There was no weak battery sound, my car was silent but all the electronics in the car worked. I decided to google this problem and found that I should try putting it in neutral to start it. I did this after 3 hours of my car not turning over and my car started right back up perfect and has been starting back up perfectly in "P" ever since. Do you think I have a neutral starter switch problem? And if I do, do you think my car can make it until Monday when I can take to the mechanic without any major problems?
The easy fix is to bypass the neutral safety switch, as long as you remember not to start it in gear.
Yes it very well could be the neutral safety switch.
- Punctured tire replacement - can I replace only 1 tire - is it safe to replace the PUNCTURED tire only? My 2005 Honda Pilot rear left tire was punctured near the threshhold (ie - sidewall), but still usable. Thus the tire dealer patched it only. Should I replace that punctured tire only? Or should I replace the 2 tires on the same axle? Or even buy a whole set of 4 tires? I'm concerned about safety, and thus your best advice is very appreciated.
- My 2008 Honda Rebel will not go in neutral? I have a 2008 Honda Rebel that will not go in neutral while its running. It will only go into neutral if I shut it off. I took it to the local shop and they adjusted the clutch cable and gear lever with no success.
- My motorcycle won't move out of neutral and the battery is dead? So I didn't have gas and killed the battery trying to start it so when I press the button no click and the kill switch is off so I tried to roll it down my driveway and pop the clutch but now it won't move from neutral it's a 2003 Honda shadow ace 750
- What is the cause of 2nd gear popping back into neutral? I own a 1997 Honda Civic Ex (coupe) SOHC VTEC that has been having this issue with the manual transmission where 1st gear chugs and 2nd gear pops out back into neutral causing the gear to grind pretty hard. I've come across many forums all giving different reasons to why this happens. I'd like to get a more definitive answer (if possible) from anyone who has had issues like/or similar to this, any mechanics out there willing to send some wisdom and tips my way is greatly appreciated.
