Should I repair my car? Honda accord?
I have a Honda Accord 2001 ex coupe (black) with 174k miles. I need to buy a new radiator, 2 new motor mounts, new brake rotors, alignment, timing belt, water pump. All this will cost about 350$ plus the labor work probly 200$ i know some mechanic Is it worth fixing? Or should I just sell it and save for another car. I'm 17 btw & Live in CA. How much longer would it last if i fixed it? I got a job it's about 12 miles away I drive 5 times out of the week. What's the important things I reall need to repair, should I sell it and save for a new one?
Well the thing with selling a car, is that if you have a running car is obviously worth more. So if you spend 350 or more on the vehicle, it might be worth a lot more than what you paid for it. Everybody wants a running car. Most people are not really interested on buying a car if they have to immediately fix, either that or learn how to do it yourself, youtube will show you a lot of helpful things.
I don't want to repeat what the other guy said, but he's right. You'll be paying a lot more than 350. The motor mount labor alone will go for 300+. And that is because they have to take your motor out of the car.
First off I doubt this will cost 350 bucks the timing belt alone is nearly 60.00 including labor which is hours. The radiator 100 bucks for a cheap after market. Rotors 50 bucks a pop, motor mounts are cheap but hard to install water pump again about 50 bucks plus install. Honestly to fix all this in a shop your looking at 1.5-2k you need the radiator and you need the timing belt everything else can wait for a bit. It is your choice a good honda can last well past 250k if not further. You won't be able to sell the car for much more than a few grand at best. It is a toss up here.
- I have a 1998 Honda CRV with 240 K miles. Needs $1200 of repair to pass inspection. Should i fix or buy a newer used Honda civic? Mike? I'm the original owner and have done a good job with oil changes etc. However, it needs 2 front control arms with ball joints and rear struts to pass inspection. I've also gone past my mileage on a second timing belt (first one done at 90K miles). Car body exterior and interior is in pretty good shape. Inside looks brand new. But repair cost at 1200 + timing belt ~500 =~1700 in repars. Is it time for a newer used auto.
- How Much Should I Pay for this Repair on My Car? A friend of mine who is a formal mechanic replaced the fuel module assembly on my Honda Civic. He fixed it at his house. What should I pay him for this?
