2004 honda civic takes long time to start in cold weather?

So I'm a 17 year old boy and for my first car I got a 2004 Honda civic and its a really good car actually. But lately its been Really cold out. It sits outside at home and in the morning when I leave for school I can warm it up and all, but after I get out of school I come out and leave right away and sometimes it takes a little bit to turn over.

It is normal for engines to crank slower when they are very cold. This is due to two factors: 1)the engine oil gets thicker when cold and so makes it harder for the starter to crank the engine; 2) the battery puts out less electrical power when it is cold so the starter gets less juice. If your problem is so bad that the car won't start, you could address one or both of these problems. Check the water level in your battery. Check the terminals & both ends of battery cables for corrosion. Check for good ground connection to the engine. You might need a new battery especially if it is over 4 years old. Consider getting an oil change and be sure it is 5W-20. Don't put any oil conditioners like STP into it is as they just make it thicker.
