2008 honda civic with 175k miles and a cracked engine block. How do you repair this? Do you need a new engine?
Should I put the money in to fix the car or try and sell it?
Cheapest option, find a used engine and fit that. That at least gives you a useful car again, relatively cheaply.
Otherwise, sell it as scrap / parts.
Ianab is right - a used engine would be your cheapest route to getting the car going again. Honda had trouble with the engine blocks used in the Civic - mostly in 2006 but a few (like yours) suffered porosity problems for a few years after that.
- Do I need to only start the 2008 CBR600RR or do I need to operate and ride the 2008 Honda CBR600RR super sport to destinations? I was wondering about during times when the 2008 Honda CBR600RR super sport motorcycle is in storage, especially during cold winter temperatures.
- Cracked top of Honda engine block. Looks repaired but how long will this last? Bought a used car 1 year ago. It runs fine and no problems. Took the car it for an oil change and mechanic noticed a leak. He took off the oil pan and found this. Oh the joys of buying a used car… Looks repaired but how long will this last? Honda quoted me $6000 to repair it… Can I keep running the car like this? Thanks Dan! This is a photo taken from the top. Timing chain to the right
- Why could my 2000 Honda Civic show it's going to overheat I have coolant a new radiator a new radiator cap a new temp gauge switch and? A new thermostat head gasket is fine could it just need to flushed and a new water pump and timing belt
- Should I buy a 2008 honda civic ex-l that has 100000 miles or a honda civic lx that has 82k miles? The honda civic ex-l has only one owner and the honda civic lx is from a dealer. They're fairly the same price
