Check engine light turned on on my 98 Honda civic hx?
The check engine light is on because the ECU has detected a problem with the emissions system on the vehicle. It can be any number of things causing this from a loose gas cap to a bad spark plug and a myriad of things in between. Drive the car to almost any auto parts store and they will scan the ECU for free. The code they retrieve will tell you what part is being effected and where to start looking for the problem. It will not always tell you exactly what part is defective. To determine that takes diagnostic skills and knowledge. Do not just throw parts at the problem. If you do not find the problem easily take it to a trusted mechanic for repair.
- Check engine light, open door light, and batterie light all came on and won't go off? 2000 Honda Odyssey I already had the altinator replaced it a month old. The batterie almost a year old. Would the belt need be changed or something else?
- Passenger airbag light turned on (Honda Civic)? I mistakenly left both my front windows rolled down in my 2012 Honda Civic hybrid during a rainstorm and now the "passenger airbag off" light is on, even though nobody (and nothing) is sitting in the passenger seat. The front portion of my car got pretty wet by the time I realized it (I d guess about 20-30mins of straight heavy downpour). What gives?
- Does a broken muffler/exhaust cause a check engine light to turn on on a 97 Honda civic? Recently my muffler broke and snapped off my 97 honda civic and a day later my check engine turned on, i just got the muffler welded back on. Was the broken muffler the cause of the check engine light to turn on? Will it turn off now that i got the muffler welded back on?
- 2008 Honda Civic LX - Check Engine Light? I drove my car this morning to work and it was fine. I even gave it a nice 10-15 mins warm up before driving because winter in Wisconsin is terrible. When I finished my shift, I started my car and the check engine light came on. I'm not sure what I should do. I'm thinking of the cold weather, but I'm open to anyone who know cars well. Just need to get this issue over with. I'm hoping it's not a big issue.
