Look at the side cover on the pulley side of the motor where the drive belts are, if the cover is plastic it's a timing belt. If the side cover is metal it's a chain. Now you know how to tell on any vehicle.
The 2007 Honda Civic has a cam chain. It normally will last the life of the engine with no maintenance required except regular oil changes.
- NEED GO CART CONVERTED FROM BELT CLUTCH TO CHAIN DRIVEN CLUTCH? I have a 2 seated carter go cart with a 5.5 Honda motor and is belt driven. I'm wanting to convert it to a chain driven system but need to know how. The frame is chain driven but the clutch is belt driven how do I convert the clutch to a chain drive system.
- Motorcycle cam chain rattle? I have a 2008 Honda XR 125 L-6 and the engine rattles slightly at idle. It isn't very consistant and completely goes away when i slowly release the clutch to biting point. Anyone know what it is? Is it the cam chain?
