Honda civic ima battery issues?

Hiya, i'm looking forward to buy a hybrid car, quite like honda ima but been reading the reviews, sum r gud and sum r bad… Heard if battery dies it costs around £3000 to get fixed or replaced.

Does anyone owns and knows any1 who owns honda ima, how it drives? Is it worth buying? Hows its battery life and anything that can help me making a decision.

The Honda Integrated Motor Assist system is a good choice for mostly highway driving, but if much of the driving is at lower speeds it is still hard to beat the Toyota Synergy system. I don't have experience with the Honda system but Toyota's batteries typically last the life of the car in the last two generations. I have two first generation Toyota Prius (both 2002 model years) and they have been perfectly reliable - neither has needed any repair except windshield replacement because of rock cracks. The first generation battery has a typical life expectancy of only about 200,000 miles and is about $2000 US to replace. The first generation is also less efficient than the second and third generations - I only get about 40-45 mpg around town compared to 50+ mpg for the later generations. However, that is a whole lot better than any diesel will do. The equivalent VW Jetta turbo diesel gets only 30 mpg in the same conditions.

I can't speak from personal experience but can tell you that my wife's company have used Honda hybrids for a couple of years now and have not had any problems with them at all. They are used daily as company cars and have proved to be very economical and reliable - the only things that people find to have complaint about them is they are too quiet, especially when they are at traffic lights etc and they seem to 'clunk' a little as they pick up speed from a standing start.

Other than that - they all like them

They do get to a stage quite wquickly where their used value drops through the floor as no one will buy them when they are due for an expensive battery change - the technology just isn't there yet unless you do not mind the inflated expense to try to help save the planet and even how much they do that is up for debate.

Spelling makes all the difference in the world, I would not a hybrid yet. If you want to save money on fuel, get a small diesel or turbo diesel car, they get Way better MPGs.

  • Idling issues with a 97 Honda Civic DX? Ok so i have a 97 civic dx, d16y7 motor, and i'm having problems with my idling. when the car sits in park it sounds like someone is hitting the gas and letting go and constantly does, when in drive there's no problem. I went to the pick n pull to get another IACV, but it does the same thing. I cleaned my old and new one and i've also cleaned the tb. The car still runs but this bugs me and i really want to be able to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
