How much does it cost to buy a new car and how to buy smart?

I want to buy a 2014 Honda civic ex next year. The msrp is 21,880. My question is how much would the actual total cost of the car be with taxes, registration and fees, interest, etc?

Also, tips and advice on how to negotiate and buy the car when I'm at the dealer would be greatly appreciated.

That would depend on what you pay for the car. You don't ever pay MSRP for a car. You need to go get approved for a loan before you buy the car. You won't have an interest rate until you apply for a loan.
your lender will tell you how much car you can afford. Start with an offer at least 5-8 thousand below MSRP.

New cars are for patsies. Buy a few year old can & save a bundle.

I drive a 20 year old car I bought 8 years ago for $1900.

I can pay cash for any car I want. Mine works fine.

Taxes and registration fees vary from state to state and even city to city in some states. Interest rates depend on how much you put down and the total amount barrowed and at what percentage you are approved at and how long the loan is for. For a car that that msrp is nearly $22,000, I would estimate total, registration fees and taxes, at around $25,000-$26,000.

If you don't mind buying a year end model, you'll get a better deal but your resale value will be less.
