How to turn the front passenger airbag on in my 2014 honda civic?

My family just got a new honda civic (standard model without the touch screen) a few weeks ago and haven't had any problems until just this weekend. For some reason the passenger airbag off light came on. It is like this all the time, so it's not an issue of someone sitting in the airbag deploy path. As far as we know, nobody touched any buttons, but we don't know how to turn the airbag back on.

Any help's appreciated.

If no one turned the airbag off to carry a child seat then there's a problem with the system itself and needs looking at.

The passenger airbag is only activated when there's enough weight in the front passenger seat to activate it. There's a sensor in the seat to determine if the proper amount of weight (the weight of an adult) is present to activate the airbag. Otherwise it should be "off". There's only a problem if an adult is sitting in the seat and the airbag is still "off".

It's a brand new car. Minor faults are not unusual in the first few months. Take it back to Nissan for a repair under warranty.

Get your brand new Owner's manual out: On page 39, item # 7: Passenger air bag indicator light: Weight sensors in the front passenger's seat: The front of the passenger's air bag will be turned off if the weight on the seat is 65 lbs (29 Kg) or less (The weight of an infant or small child).

So it's normal. That's why you've seen people installed baby seat on the rear seat of any car for a reason.
