If my honda civic shuts off while i was driving and will no longer start up?

Check your muffler bearings, and piston return springs.

Ignition fuse link.

Do the basic checks first: Engine oil level, related fuses and relay, state of charge of the battery, will the engine crank but won't run? Or nothing? (No clicking, nada). Could it be the fuel pump or like other said: Ran out of gas?

The two common causes are the Main relay and the Ignition switch. Check into them. If you're not a mechanical inclined person then get the car to the nearest repair shop.

Several times in the past year, I stopped and help some people on the side of the freeway with car problem and found out after 5 minutes or so: The engine has seized up (Locking up) due to some reasons. The only obvious thing that I saw was no oil indication on the dipstick.HTH

Edit: Sorry for not going into more in depth of advises. You're on the side of the road and possible has had the car in tow by now.

Is it no crank, or no start, or no click?
Is there battery power?
Is there fuel?
Is there oil?
Was there excessive smoke from the exhaust before it shut off?
Was there any unusual noise before it shut off?
Check for CEL codes too.

Not much info to make a precise diagnostic.
It could be bad battery, bad alternator, bad fuel pump, timing belt, head gasket, broken piston rod connector, etc.

Maybe you ran out of gas? Check the battery too. Bring it to a mechanic for check up.

Check the alternator, battery, gas gauge…
