Is a honda civic with 70k Miles ok to buy?
I want to buy a 2007 honda civic petrol with 70,000 Miles on the clock for £4,500. Does this sound okay and is 70,000 too much for a petrol engine?
The car has covered average miles for its age.
No 70000 is not too much for a petrol engine - there are millions the world over that have covered far in excess of that when maintained correctly
Other than that no one om here could comment further on a car they can't see touch or test so the internet is not going to aid you to decide
70k miles is definitely not too much for a gas engine. In some cars that's just getting started.
With that said, you're at a catch-22. That car will need about a $1000 (USD) repair in the next 2 years roughly… Timing belt. It's a necessary repair every 80-100k miles on most Japanese cars, and it's not cheap. That's why I hate cars with timing belts, they are unreliable to me if you have to do a major repair like that every 4-5 years. A proper timing chain, while taking a few more hp to drive, pretty much never has to be replaced.
I have to say that i don't like small cars but if i did a civic would be well up on my list. I can't really comment on the price because condition and service history are major factors. The mileage is slightly below the national average. Two things affect how long it will last - how well you maintain it and how you drive it.
I know someone whose little Micra has just passed the 200k mark, the other side of the coin is that i was in my sons workshop yesterday looking at a 3 year old car with a 2 litre Twin Overhead Cam engine which the owner had managed to totally and irrevocably trash in 43k. Needs a complete new head, cams, valves etc. (A sales managers company car!)
It Depends you opinion and your budget
Hi check on it's service history as that would be where it might be such a good deal a Honda agent would be the best to ask. Unless it is a honda agent taht is.
- Is it weird to wear cloth brands like versace, gucci etc and drive a car around 70k-150k range? I know wearing those brand and driving like a honda, toyota etc would look weird, but is cars like mercedes, bmw ok? Or does it have to be something higher like maserati, ferrari, lambo, aston etc?
- I have a 1998 Honda CRV with 240 K miles. Needs $1200 of repair to pass inspection. Should i fix or buy a newer used Honda civic? Mike? I'm the original owner and have done a good job with oil changes etc. However, it needs 2 front control arms with ball joints and rear struts to pass inspection. I've also gone past my mileage on a second timing belt (first one done at 90K miles). Car body exterior and interior is in pretty good shape. Inside looks brand new. But repair cost at 1200 + timing belt ~500 =~1700 in repars. Is it time for a newer used auto.
- Would you buy a used 2010 Honda Civic sedan with 107k miles on it? It appears to be in great condition… Clean CarFax, only one owner (he leased it and then he bought it afterwards). Has 107,000 miles on it, and he's asking $8500. Is it worth it? He said that they were all highway miles driving to and from work mainly
- Used 2012 Honda Civic Coupe with 60,000 miles. Is it ok to buy? I'm looking at a Certified Pre-owned Honda Civic Coupe. It's 2012 with 60k miles on it and Carfax said it averaged 22k miles per year. No accidents reported and only one owner. The price is good is $14,000 right now and I'll probably negotiate it down. The main question: Is 60k too much on a 2.5 year old vehicle? Even if it's CPO?
