My son wants a compact car?

My son wants a little Honda Civic or something of that matter. The problem here is all of the guys in my family drove lifted trucks and like mud bogging and using their trucks for work. I'm not sure if he plans on working like all of us or not but I'm wondering if I should get him what he wants or just buy him a truck and he will have to get over it.

Of course it is up to you, but I would talk to him and explain the difference to him. I do not know if he is more "metro" and urban than the rest of the men in your family. If he does not like mud bogging or prefers to get into someone elses vehicle with them, then the truck may not be his cup of tea. If he plans on going the college and getting a white collar job, then maybe the Honda would be fine. The Honda will get better gas mileage and is a good car. On the other hand, he will have to borrow a truck if he plans on hauling something. Talk these things out with him and then decide. I think either the Honda or the Truck would be good choices. The Honda will get great mileage, look great at college and for white collar job interviews and he will keep it for years. The truck is good for hauling things and mud bogging but uses more gas. Talk to him

Buy him.

  • Why are there no more sports compact cars anymore? I remember in the 90s they had small compact cars like the Acura Integra and Honda del sol and Toyota mr2. Why won't they make them anymore?
  • Should I let my son do this? He wants to buy a Honda S2000 with 73,000 miles for $12,500 with his own money. I'm ok with it but I advise him not to. He wants to buy it now knowing how hard it is to come across a 2001 With that low of miles in great condition witch i believe is true. This will be his first car and he is a responsible driver but should I let him buy it? Part of me says yes and the other half no.
  • Is it wrong to tell my 16year old daughter that she must earn a 3.0 gpa or higher if she wants a brand new car for graduation? If she gets below a 3.0 unless it is a medical or catastrophic situation then I will only buy her a used 2005 Chevy aveo. If she graduates in 2019 wit a 3.0 or higher I will buy her a new Nissan or Honda.
  • Are compact and subcompact cars safe? I ask because my mom says that, for example, a Honda Fit or even a Civic aren't safe cars. She says the smallest Honda I could drive is an Accord (and I know they don't have a sedan larger than that). So, is it true that cars like the Civic and Fit aren't safe?
